Springfield Healthcare are proud to be partnering with Sheffield City Council to participate in a Test of Change on an innovative new technology that will virtually support vulnerable people in their own home.
‘Anthropos’ uses a range of discrete sensors placed around the home which collect data about everyday living activities such as boiling a kettle, using the microwave, fridge usage, opening the doors and moving around the home.

This helps to build a picture of what normal looks like for the person and looks for meaningful changes thereafter. Any changes are shared directly with carers, family members, and Springfield Healthcare. The smart devices are neither watching nor recording people, they simply sit in the background monitoring activity and sending information back for review.

How Anthropos Works
Anthropos supports people at home enabling them to continue to receive the right care delivered in a proactive and preventative manner, ensuring that people can live independently, safe, and well in their own homes. Care workers are provided with additional support and information to be able to respond effectively to people’s changing needs. People feel safer knowing that their carers and families can be informed of any changes and are able to provide support.
Springfield Healthcare will begin by assessing the success of Anthropos on a group of 9 customers from the 16th September, with continual analysis being undertaken throughout.
We are looking forward to partnering with Sheffield City Council and working with colleagues from Oxford University who are supporting on this project and helping to develop the future of in-home care in Sheffield.
