Graeme Lee, the founder of Springfield Healthcare Group, has sold six of his care villages to American Healthcare REIT (real estate investment trust) after a refinancing process for an undisclosed sum.
Each care village will be operated by Care UK under a management in agreement, and all 700 Springfield Healthcare Group care staff were transferred on completion. The care villages sold to American Healthcare REIT are Harcourt Gardens, Mayfield View, Chocolate Works, Chapter House, Seacroft Green and Seacroft Grange.
Mr Lee said: “While the decision to sell part of the group at this time was not my first choice, it will allow us to start development of two of our new care village sites in Harrogate and Wetherby, and to continue to focus on our existing core services.”

“These include the existing 69 bed Springfield Care Home in Garforth, as well as our Springfield Home Care domiciliary division.
“This is an area of care which is growing massively in demand and complexity.”
