Respite care
short term and long term respite care

Springfield Healthcare offers compassionate respite care services, providing a much-needed break for family caregivers. This temporary care allows you to rest and recharge, confident that your loved one is in safe and professional hands.
Our flexible services can be arranged for a few hours, a day, or an extended period, fitting seamlessly around your schedule. During this time, our experienced carers provide personalised support, from companionship to specialised care, ensuring your loved one’s needs are fully met. By offering this support, we help to prevent caregiver burnout and promote the long-term well-being of both the caregiver and the individual receiving care.
We offer two main types of respite care: live-in care, where a carer lives in your home to provide around-the-clock support and companionship, and visiting care, where a carer assists with your needs for a few hours each day or week at pre-arranged times.
HOW WE CAN HELP
navigating the difficulties of respite care
It’s common for families to face a variety of challenges when seeking respite care, as the process can be both emotionally and practically difficult. Some of the most significant challenges include:
- Caregiver guilt and anxiety: Family caregivers often feel a sense of guilt for needing a break or worry that their loved one will not be as well cared for in their absence.
- Concerns about continuity of care: A primary caregiver knows the individual’s routines, preferences and medical needs intimately. Handing over care to someone else, even temporarily, can raise fears about whether the same level of personalised attention will be maintained.
- Disruption for the loved one: For the person receiving care, especially those with dementia or complex needs, a change in routine or a new face can cause confusion, distress and resistance, making the transition more difficult for everyone involved.
Springfield Healthcare supports families in overcoming these challenges by providing a trusted and professional service. Our approach is designed to offer peace of mind and make the process as seamless as possible.
